Newborns and young babies
Babies under one don't need a neutral expression or both eyes fully open, though open eyes help.
- Lay the baby on their back on a plain white sheet
- Photograph from directly above, phone held flat
- Use daylight from a window, not a flash
- Make sure no hands, toys, dummies or blankets are in the frame
Toddlers
Sit them in a car seat or high chair draped with a white sheet. Have one person behind the camera and another just behind the photographer to get their attention, so they look at the lens.
